Paideia High School Summer Reading 2024: HS Summer Reading Home

Welcome to Summer Reading

Paideia Python logoWelcome to the home of the Paideia High School summer reading program.  All rising 9th-12th graders should read a minimum of THREE books over the summer, including one specific title assigned by your fall term English teacher, plus any two free choices.  Free choice books may be chosen from among the lists in this website, or any other fiction or non-fiction, poetry, or graphic novel that is reasonable for your age and reading level (ie, books written for teenagers or adult readers).

** Rising 10th-12th graders, your English class for fall is in the Long Term schedule you received at the end of May.  Rising 9th, you'll be getting your schedule and advisor from Laura M. at the end of June. **

Choose your English teacher's name from the "Required Reading" dropdown menu to see the assigned book, or book options, for your class.  Teachers will expect students to be able to discuss and/or write about the assigned book in class at the start of school.  This year, students should also submit a Reading Response form for each of their two additional, free-choice books (yes, this is new for High School). All reading & responses should be completed by August 14, the first day of school.

While families are not required to use our dedicated online bookstore, all books assigned by high school teachers will be made available for purchase at https://bnck-12.com/paideiaschool

All assigned books are also available at local public libraries, bookstores, or in Sora, Paideia's digital book collection.

If you need help deciding on a book, or have any other questions, email us (Anna Watkins, JH  & HS LIbrarian, and Jim Veal, English Department Chair) at library@paideiaschool.org.

Happy Reading!!
