Recent YA Award Winners

Each year, the Georgia Center for the Book selects noteworthy titles for adults and young readers. The "young reader" list includes picture books up to Young Adult titles. These books were tagged for YA readers (generally grades 9-12) in the 2024 "Books All Young Georgians Should Read" list. Full lists for 2024 and previous years are online here.
Alex Award books are written for adults, but also have special appeal to young adults (readers ages 12-18). Each winter, the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) chooses ten books, published in the preceeding year, for that year's Alex Award list. Alex Award lists from 1998-2025 can be found online here.
The Georgia Peach Book Award is chosen each year by teens who vote for their favorite books at their high schools and local public libraries. The books that earn the highest number of readers and ratings become the Peach Book and Honor Books. Below you will find the 20 nominated titles for 2025-2026; winner and honor books for will be announced in spring 2026. Past winners and nominees are at this link.
The Michael L. Printz Award is given annually for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. The winner and honor titles are announced in late January or February of each year. Click the link for previous year's Printz winners.
