Paideia High School Summer Reading 2023: Required Reading

Required Reading Guidelines

How to Meet the Summer Reading Requirement

Choose your English teacher's name from the "Required Reading" dropdown menu to see the assigned book, or book options for your class. Students in 9th -12th grades will have ONE assigned book, and then should read at least TWO additional books, for a total of THREE books over the summer.

Sometimes an upper level science, social studies or AP teacher may ask students to read a book relevant to the upcoming class topic.  If you are in one of these classes, you may count that book as one of the additional two books to be read.

Of course, you don't have to stop at three.  You are welcome (and encouraged) to read as many additional books as you want!  You can read fiction, non-fiction, poetry or graphic novels.  Books in a series can count, and if you're dying to read a book that's not listed in these pages, go for it!  If you want to practice reading in another language, that works too. As long as it's reasonably "high school" level (we're talking books that were written for teenagers or older readers), it should be fine.

Format doesn't matter.  Both print and e-books are fine, and if you like to listen, remember that audiobooks count too.  Keep track of the books you've read: make a note in your phone, add it to a bullet journal list, write it down in your diary.  Just be prepared by the start of school on August 17, and you're done.
