Paideia Junior High School Summer Reading 2024: JH Summer Reading

Welcome to Summer Reading

IMPORTANT!

You must use the Summer Reading Google Classroom to complete the summer reading assignments.  On your iPad, log into the Classroom app with your Paideia School email address. On a computer, go to http://classroom.google.com and login, or choose Classroom from the Apps menu on your Gmail screen.

We Still Belong cover imageThis summer’s All-Junior High reading selection is We Still Belong by Christine Day.  The book is available in print, ebook and audiobook formats -- you may buy or borrow the format you prefer.

Required Book – Each student will complete two (2) projects on We Still Belong, chosen from among the many options on the Summer Reading Projects Choice Board (found in the Classwork area of the Summer Reading Google classroom).

Free-Choice Books – In addition to reading We Still Belong, each rising 7th and 8th grade student is required to read a minimum of three (3) additional free-choice books over the summer and complete a response form for each one.  The link to the free-choice response form is also found under “Choice Reading” in the classwork area of the Summer Reading Google classroom. Be sure to choose the form for your grade level when school starts in August

The Paideia Library posts a summer reading guide that includes dozens of recommended fiction and non-fiction books for junior high readers, and you may also read any other book that intrigues you: any fiction or non-fiction, poetry, or graphic novel that is reasonable for your age and reading level (ie, not Magic Tree House or Captain Underpants!)

If you need help deciding on a book, or have any other questions, email library@paideiaschool.org.

Happy Reading!!
