In this section of the guide, you will find lists of suggested picture books, fiction, non-fiction, and biographies for students in Half Day through 2nd grade. These lists were curated to highlight new, diverse book acquisitions in the elementary library over the last year and are meant to provide windows and mirrors for all students. These lists do not include required reading, but are used as a tool for finding books to help engage children and elicit joy in reading. It is vital for children to have the freedom to choose books of their own interest and we encourage parents to provide a wide variety of literature at home. Visiting your public library and local, independent bookstore are wonderful ways to support and foster a love of reading.
