5th/6th Research Guide: Books and Databases

Where to Look Online

Smart researchers use books and databases to quickly find reliable information. Try these!

Remember to search with keywords instead of questions. You can also use databases to find pictures, maps, or other images.

If you are using Britannica or Gale at home, you will need to login. Check your library Google classroom page for the passwords.

Library Catalog

Search the library catalog for books about your topic.

Sora

Did you know Sora has non-fiction books you can use for research?

ProQuest Research Library

Proquest is a database used by the junior high and high school library. If you cannot find information using Britannica, Gale, or a library book, you can try Proquest. Keep in mind that Proquest may require more sophisticated searching skills, will have many more articles in your results list, and some materials may be over your reading level. If you need help, contact Jill.
